I’m back and there’s plenty going on–cleaning, packing, getting rid of stuff, sneezing, lurking the Lowe’s website almost constantly, all in preparation of moving into Our First Own House. That’s right, we’re headed southside, 45th street, and I am excited and still not quite sure it’s true. It will be officially true on October 12 when we close. Yee hah! My goal is to rid myself of at least half of what I own, thrifting most of it and responsibly disposing of whatever is not thriftable (I took the dead tv and boom box to Best Buy to be recycled). I am pretty certain that this will make me a happier better person. Or at least a person with a lot less stuff.

Isabel and Steve don’t seem to grasp yet that we have gotten them the back yard that we’ve always dreamed of for them, I guess they’ll catch on once they’re digging it up. Also, there is the fireplace, my personal dream feature. That has nothing to do with the dogs. I’m sure Steve will be terrified of it but I refuse to let go of my vision of the two of us stretched out in front of the fire on a bearskin rug. Or perhaps a squirrel skin rug. I’ll sedate him if need be, in order to realise my dream. It’s okay, he loves me.

I am now putting aside bike maintenance after I discovered a few minutes ago that SRAM X7 shifters don’t play well with a 7.0 rear derailleur. So instead of E and I going for a trail ride when she gets home from work, we’re gonna take the dogs to the park for a run.

Incidentally, there was a hideous couch cushion obstructing the far right lane of 64 E just prior to the 183 exit earlier when I was out. Just so you know. It was ugggleee.

First post on new WordPress site. Feels fine. It’s pouring outside as we get the wet part of Hanna. I’m propped up in bed with both beagles and both cats. Everyone’s napping except for Bing cat who is steadily eyeing my cereal bowl on the side table. He’s totally driven, full of unbending willfulness. He would eat the cereal out of my mouth if he could. Then again, so would the dogs.

Been making my mental to-do list for the day and since it’s supposed to be rainy most of the list involves housecleaning. Since E is in Oklahoma I’ll have less distractions, which really means I won’t be popping into her study repeatedly to ask stupid questions or tell her a silly pointless story or just to say hi. Just me and the kids following me from room to room. I will probably post some vacation pictures later and perhaps an amusing anecdote or two. Which reminds me…I love the word anecdotal, mostly I love saying it. I need to create more instances where I can use it in conversation. I’ll add that to my to-do list.
